What Algebra 1 tutoring looks like with us

Algebra 1 introduces variables, functions, and equations, the language that every later math and science class speaks. Many students take it in eighth grade, and honors students often take it in seventh.

Your tutor follows your class and makes sure the foundations are solid: solving equations, graphing lines, and understanding functions. Confidence in Algebra 1 shows up later in chemistry, physics, and every standardized test.

From our tutors

Where students lose points in Algebra 1

Negative numbers and fractions

Many algebra errors are really arithmetic errors. We fix the arithmetic without making students feel behind.

Word problems

Turning sentences into equations is a skill on its own. We practice it in small steps.

Slope

Rise over run is easy to say and easy to mix up. We connect it to tables, graphs, and real situations.

Factoring

The hardest Algebra 1 topic for most students. A clear method and lots of practice fix it.

Our sessions

What a typical session looks like

  1. First 5 min

Check in on class: what was taught this week, what is due, and when the next test is.

  2. Main block

Work through the topic that matters most right now, using your actual homework or class problems.

  3. Practice

Test style questions on the same topic, so the skill holds up under time pressure.

  4. Last 5 min

A short plan for the week, and the topic for this week's worksheet.

  5. After

Our support team sends the worksheet, marks it, and returns a written score report and a retest on the weak spots. Parents get a copy.
